Pediatric Dental Surgery

Pediatric dental surgery is needed when a child requires surgery on teeth, gums, or surrounding oral tissue. Often these procedures are done in a surgery center to allow for the safe use of anesthetic – either local or general. Many dental surgeries or injury repair require a stillness and cooperation that can be hard to come by with small or nervous children, and a highly trained surgeon like those at The Surgery Center of Nacogdoches and OR staff can help to ensure a successful surgery for your child.

There are many reasons for children to need dental surgery. Accidents like falls can cause teeth to loosen or break, requiring surgery to either re-implant the tooth or to stabilize the tooth; or an accident may cause a child to become injured around lips, gums, or cheeks. Infections or abscessed teeth may require surgery as well to either extract a sick tooth or to remove and repair an infected or abscessed area.
